6.1. Word Order Variations in Russian word order are well known and have received significant attention in the literature on syntax and information structure (Baylin 1995, King 1995, and references therein). American Russian speakers clearly limit the range of word orders available to them. The predominant order seems to be SVO, which is found in clauses involving both nominal and pronominal arguments. In Full Russian, the latter often require SOV word order. The speakers studied here used both SOV and SVO with pronominal objects, so it is hard to generalize beyond noting a tendency towards SVO.
